ESPN | Hometown Homers | Interactive infographic

Hometown Homers is an infographic designed for ESPN’s HitTrackerOnline.com. It displays the precise trajectory of the top five home run hitters in every MLB ballpark. Each player in the top five provides information, noteworthy statistics, the distance the ball traveled in feet, and the trajectory of the hit.

Project scope

  • Scrape Hittrackeronline.com for homerun stats.
  • Design a new layout for the infographic.
  • Develop high-fidelity mockups.
  • Create a fully functional prototype.

My role

  • Visual Designer

The challenge

Condense the many HitTrackerOnline.com statistics into an easy-to-use, interactive infographic. Required information for each stadium in both the National League and American League includes:

  • Total home runs for the year.
  • Top 5 athletes hitting the farthest home runs.
  • Trajectory of each top 5 home run on a custom map for each stadium.
  • Bar graph visually representing the distance difference among the top 5 athletes.
  • Brief bio and fun profile image of the chosen player.
  • Additional custom information on the active stadium.
